On Monday, September 14, 2026, a culinary workshop held at the Slovenian Association "Triglav" in Banja Luka was filled with the aroma of plums—the queen of September fruits.
Beside Association members, the event was attended by Elizabeta Kirn Kavčič, Consul at the Consular Office of the Republic of Slovenia in Banja Luka, and Metoda Perger, a teacher of Slovenian language classes.
The plum is the foundation of many traditional treats—fruit butters, jams, compotes, and various cakes—as well as the dumplings that inspired this workshop. The hostess and cook for the occasion was Association member Zdenka Jelić. Before everyone enjoyed the delicious dumplings, Zdenka briefly explained the preparation process and the ingredients used. A plum tart was also served alongside the dumplings. Zdenka deserves high praise for her culinary skills (which she had successfully kept under wraps until now), and we look forward to more pleasant surprises from her in the future.
A jar of excellent ajvar / roasted red pepper spread/ tried to steal the spotlight, but the attendees' hearts ultimately belonged to that small fruit—the blue plum.
It was yet another lovely gathering for Association members, featuring conversation, the exchange of recipes, and wine gifted to us by Zvone Žigon upon his departure from Banja Luka.
