On Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7, 2026, we dedicated our Slovenian language classes to Women’s Day.
With high school students, we talked about the circumstances of how the Women’s Day originated, the history of the celebration around the world and in Slovenia. We also talked about women’s equality in Europe and around the world. With elementary school students, we dedicated classes to making greeting cards. Everyone made a greeting card with a message for their mothers, some even made two, and another for their grandmother. The resulting products were wonderful, which mothers and grandmothers were certainly happy about.
Unfortunately, like all holidays, Women’s Day has become a little too commercialized, but the greeting cards that children make for their mothers and grandmothers are the best gift for this day. However, if they make an effort and pick a small bouquet of spring flowers, I believe that there is no mother or grandmother who would not appreciate this wonderful childish attention.
I wish all the best for Women's Day, not only to mothers and grandmothers, who have their own special holiday at the end of March (Mother's Day), but to all women, girls and young women.
